How Does the Progressive KO (PKO) Work?

19 October 2026 · 4 min read

Half of every bounty to your pocket, half to your own head. A large part of the Gladiator side events is played in this format.

In a PKO tournament every player starts with a bounty on their head, just like in a Regular KO. The difference is that when you eliminate an opponent you do not keep their whole bounty: one part goes straight to your pocket and the other is added to your own bounty, making you a more valuable target for everyone else.

How it works

Half of your buy-in goes to the main prize pool and the other half to the progressive bounty pool. When you eliminate a player you instantly collect 50% of their bounty; the other 50% is added to your own bounty. As the tournament goes on, the players who eliminate the most carry huge bounties. That creates a mix of risk and reward: your opponents want to knock you out, but every showdown you win increases both your chips and your bounty.

Why players love it

The deeper you go, the more is at stake. Consistent hunters can build big extra winnings, sometimes it is worth risking chips to take down a big bounty, and the room loves watching players chase the “big targets” at the table.

The PKO in the Gladiator Series

PKO tournaments are one of the cornerstones of the Gladiator Series, since a large part of the side events is played in this frantic format: the nightly Ultra PKO turbos and The Closer.
